Episode 07: Blaine Bartlett of The Soul of Business
The Energetics of Money and Investing.
Like most venture capital investors I know, I didn't start off doing this full time. Not even close. When I first started out I acted in an apprentice type role for a couple years. There came a point in time when I felt I had reached a fork in the road. I had been in various roles in addition to working with startups and dabbling in venture capital for a couple of years. But there came a point when I could no longer continue with one foot in and one foot out. I had to concentrate my energy and efforts if I wanted to move forward and grow. I had to choose to go all in on one path moving forward.
I didn't make the decision quickly, or lightly. I came to the realization that having had the opportunity to learn this industry (which is notoriously hard to break into and learn) was a gift, and that I had a unique opportunity to carve a niche for myself in this industry. But I had to stop dabbling and dedicate myself 100%.
One of the first areas I immediately had to get to work was on myself, my inner game. I believe that our external world and the experiences we have are a reflection of our internal mindset and beliefs. I knew that I needed to work on my own mindset and beliefs about money, wealth and investing. From that point forward, I could not inadvertently or unconsciously block the flow of wealth, money or abundance when it was literally my job to be a conduit for it. This is personal work I continue to this very day. I consider it one of the most important areas of personal and spiritual work any investor can do.
I was fortunate enough to meet Blaine Bartlett via my interactions with David Meltzer's show, Office Hours with David Meltzer. Blaine invited me to join him on his Soul of Business Podcast where we spoke about venture capital as a conduit and a multiplier of abundance, and taking an active role in creating the world we want to see.
